From the elegantly designed pergola, which mimics the grace of a bird gently alighting on its perch, to the deck chairs, each named after a different bird, every element contributes to a harmonious seaside ambiance in ironical contradiction with the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and sunset view.
HOXAR STUDIO deep commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness is at the heart of its design. The choice of materials and finishes is not only about aesthetics but also about their environmental impact and the intervention.
From the carefully selected wood beams to the massive untreated 8cm pine wood slabs used for the sofa lounge, the emphasis on sustainability is evident. The architects were acutely aware of the terrace’s lifespan and the need for circularity in design.
Every component was chosen not only for its initial beauty but also with an eye toward the future hospitality. The result is an architecture that can be disassembled, recycled, or repurposed in the years to come. Hospitality faces multiple challenges when it comes to offer a durable experience: The pergola, where shadows dance during the day and mellow shades take over in the evening, is painted in tranquil Smoke Grey while its edge are marked with Stone Blue hues.
The U-shaped lounge seating offers an inviting retreat to visitors, and the large, multicolored cushions, inspired by seaside furniture, provide a delightful and comfortable experience. Deck chairs, each featuring a different multicolored pattern, spread positivity and joy across the terrace.
Le Perchoir Terrace offers a vast 280m2 expanse of a curved slope, where guests enter from below via a series of steep stairs. As they ascend, they are embraced by the welcoming shadow of the pergola, perched at the pinnacle of the terrace. Here, a generous U-shaped lounge seating arrangements invite guests to choose their preferred color.
Each lounge provides space for up to 12 cheerful individuals. The U seating not only serves as a comfortable gathering space but also anchors the perched pergola.
The unique pergola design, reminiscent of a bird’s wings, adds to the overall aesthetics. Around the terrace, freely arranged deck chairs, displayed as desired around untreated logs, offer flexible seating options.
As you bask in the ambiance of Le Perchoir Terrace, it’s impossible not to feel like you’re at a seaside retreat. The aesthetics draw inspiration from beach holidays imaginary, with the pergola’s intricate design standing out as a masterpiece.
Featuring a complex matrix with a hierarchy of structural joints, it showcases a variety of joint types, including Rabbet, half lap, mitred butt, tongue and groove, box joint, and sandwich joint. The sixteen 5-meter masts rise from the U-shaped lounge. The first layer of the pergola is composed of thin square wood beams at a height of 3 meters.
Gradually, a second row of rectangular wood beams evolves at gradually varying angles, creating a transparent canopy that interacts with the sunlight, casting constructed shadows and enhancing the spatial experience. The result is an architectural statement that provides depth and redefines the boundaries the space.
